WE HAVE OUTDONE OURSELVES AND NOW HAVE OUR LIGHTEST ROAD WHEEL AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER. THEY ARE MADE TO ORDER SO THEY TAKE ABOUT 4 WEEKS. BASED ON OUR POPULAR ROL D'HUEZ ALLOY, THESE CARBON WHEELS ARE LIGHT, STIFF AND RESPONSIVE. PERFECT FOR CLIMBING - AND NAMED AFTER MOUNT BLUE SKY, A 28 MILE CLIMB IN COLORADO. 

The wheels are hand built in Colorado.

OVERVIEW

Let's just cut to the chase - the rims weigh approximately 270 grams - they are light! The ROL hubs are light - weighing just 385 grams for the set. We will let you decide the weight of the spokes.

This wheel set is made for climbing and lightweight performance. It is also stiff and responsive.

The Blue Sky is made from Toray T700 & T800 Premium Carbon Fiber. It has an internal width of 23 mm and an external width of 30 mm which allows a wide profile for a road tire to optimize traction for cornering and allow for a nice aero profile to cut the wind. The depth of the rim is 27 mm. The Blue Sky is built for tires 25-52 mm wide. 

The Blue Sky is a 24 spoke count wheel for both front and rear. They are laced to ROL CLD hubs. You will choose between a lightweight double butted or bladed spoke. The bladed spokes are lighter, and the double butted are stronger. For durability, we build all of our wheels with brass spokes. 

The ROL CLD hubs are sealed bearings with a 6-pawl mechanism. They ROL smooth and quiet. They are available with Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo freehubs.

The wheels are available in a standard 12x100/12x142 axle, however other configurations are available. Just email tom@rolwheels.com if you need something different.

OVERVIEW

The latest advancement of our popular C45AR - All Road Series, our new ROL-Flow profile offers significant performance benefits.

The design reduces aero drag, is more laterally stiff, and has 30% greater impact resistance.

The C45 AR disc’s are a great choice if you want a fast mid-depth rim that will give you an edge over the competition. It is our Adventure Road model, and is comfortable on any road, paved or gravel. The wheel is at home with Century Road Rides, Road Races, Triathalons and even Gravel  Rides. The wheels will fit tires from 25mm to 45mm. 

The rims are made with a lend of Toray T700 & T800 Premium Carbon Fiber, They have an internal width: 21mm from bead to bead to allow for great control. The external widths is a maximum of 28mm makes the wheel cut through the wind and provide a nice aerodynamic flow.

Our standard set runs with a 24 spoke count for both front and rear. They are laced 2 cross.

Our C45AR Carbon Disc Wheels come standard with ROL CLD (Center Lock Design) hubs. They are sealed bearing hubs with a 6-pawl mechanism. They are laced to our rims with lightweight stainless steel J-Bend Spokes with Brass nipples. We prefer to build the wheels with durability than save a few ounces on alloy nipples.  

They wheels are available with Shimano HG, SRAM XDR or Campagnolo freehubs. The standard axle option is 12x100/12x142 axles. If you need a different axle combination, select Other and we will respond to you via email to make sure we have the right axle combination.

This is a great all-around wheel for all types of riding. The C45's have been popular for road riding and racing, time trials and triathlons, gravel and cyclocross. This carbon wheelset is fast, strong and comfortable. The C45 uses a mid-depth rim: it's light enough to accelerate and climb, while its aerodynamics make you feel like you have an added gear at race speeds.

The C45 measures 28mm at its widest point - a bit wider than most to improve the tire's aerodynamics and widen its contact patch for better handling. You'll get more out of your chosen tires with a wider rim.

Premium Sapim Race Spokes are double butted and provide a combination of lightweight and strength.  The brass Sapim Secure Lock nipples work great, are more durable and hold up better to corrosion than standard alloy nipples.

With an aerodynamic 45mm deep profile, the C45 is our jack-of-all-trades wheel set. Whether you are chasing KOMs on the mountain or racing your buddies to the next checkpoint, this wheelset is for you. We have designed the rim to work with both new road bikes or as a fantastic choice to upgrade your older road bike with limited clearance.

FEATURES

NEW GROOVED GRAPHENE BRAKING SURFACE

We are extremely pleased and excited to feature our new Grooved Graphene Braking Surface. Our new resin system and construction method, combined with the 3k rim track, withstands over 280°C, dissipates heat, and lowers rim temperatures faster in between braking efforts. Gain confidence-inspiring brake performance on the steepest descents and wettest conditions with our matching brake pads. The grooved track helps evacuate trapped moisture between pad and rim in wet conditions, and brings more resistance and force at the lever when conditions are dry.

ROL ULTRALIGHT HUBS

Not only have we upgraded our rims, we have updated our hub sets to support new and old drive trains. Our hubs are available with all modern drivetrains. Our freehubs now have an Anti-Bite system to prevent the cassette from digging into the body of the freehub. The hubs are one of the strongest and lightest hubs on the market.

We use premium J-Bend Stainless Spokes and Brass Nipples for durability. 

HEAVY RIDER OPTION

Our 20/24 spoke model is perfect for riders up to 220 lbs. For riders that want a more robust wheel, or weigh more than 220 lbs, select our 28/28 spoke model. It can support riders to 280 lbs.
